Severe Vacuum Cleaner Pet Standoff
Bellum aspiratoris domesticus
Clinical description

Patient's cat Pickles has, for six years, treated every vacuum session as a personal declaration of war. Flees behind the couch. Will not emerge for 40 minutes after vacuum is powered off. Patient now vacuums around Pickles, at a respectful distance. The rug under the couch has not been vacuumed since 2019. Patient has made peace with this.

Prognosis

Chronic. The standoff is now a household accord.

Recommended treatment

None. The rug remains, technically, a no-go zone.
